This summer course includes a detailed discussion of the biology of animals and plants in selected tropical marine environments,
including their ecology, life histories, systematics, and physiology. A term paper and 7-day field trip to Florida are required
(cost of the trip will be about $1375* above tuition, plus students need their own snorkeling gear). This is a W2 course.
To insure that students get personal attention, registration is limited to two small (10 or less) groups of students;
the instructor and teaching assistant (Michelle Curtis) travel with the students. The 1st group is in Florida during July
xxxx, and the 2nd group is in Florida during July xxxx, 2012. An additional group will be added if needed.

The fee* for this tip includes:
1. Roundtrip airfare between Florida and New Jersey, all food, lodging (air-conditioned
motel), entrance fees, boat trips, and so on.
2. There will be a tour of some typical ecosystems in Everglades
National Park, and visits to several state and county parks, and the Miami-Dade MetroZoo.
3. There will be six days
in the Florida Keys, including exploration of nature trails, a visit to historic Key West, a tour of a sea turtle
care center, and a visit to a tropical bird sanctuary. The trip is high-lighted by snorkeling (or SCUBA if you are certified)
at Jules Undersea Lodge, and three half-day trips on chartered boats, with a local dive master, into coral reefs and
ship wrecks of John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park and the Key Largo National Marine Sanctuary.
